IOPL GRADUATES FORTY-THIRD CLASS OF FELLOWS

The Fall 2010 Class of Fellows of the Institute of Political Leadership (IOPL) graduated Saturday, December 11, 2010 on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Greensboro, NC.  It is the forty-third class to graduate from the IOPL Fellows Program.

Dr. Thom Little, Adjunct Professor of Political Science at UNC-G, welcomed the graduating Fellows on behalf of the University, and Dr. Robert H. “Robin” Dorff, Executive Director, presided. The 2010 Libertarian Party nominee for U.S. Senate and IOPL Fellow Alumnus (Class of Fall 2009), Dr. Michael Beitler, delivered the graduation address.  Mr. Jonathan Kappler of Raleigh gave the response on behalf of the class, and Mr. Byron Grimmett of Charlotte delivered the Invocation.  Dr. Beitler, Dr. Dorff, and Dr. Little awarded diplomas to the ten graduates of the Fall 2010 class.

Dr. Beitler drew on his recent experience on the statewide campaign trail and challenged the newest IOPL Fellows to take what they learned and use it to make a difference—in their communities and around the state.  “It was exciting to hear from someone like Mike who literally graduated and started applying everything immediately,” said Robin.  “He is
such a role model—strong in his beliefs, hard working, dedicated, and sincere in wanting us all to contribute to making North Carolina a better place to live.”   Mike made a point of sharing with the graduating Fellows and their friends and families just how much he and his wife had enjoyed the process of running for office.  “It’s a lot of work, but we really enjoyed it.  We made a lot of friends.  And I feel that we did make a difference, yes.”
