Election Day in North Carolina
It's Election Day across the country and we are particulary interested in the results in our home state, where many IOPL Fellows are heavily involved as candidates for office, campaign staff, advisors, or even much needed volunteers.
Today, we must all remember the important responsibilities that come with being a citizen in our great nation and state. Our right to vote for the candidate of our choice has not been preserved without great sacrifice over many years. We should never let those around us forget this truth or lose our appreciation for it ourselves.
Although the pages of our newspapers and the blare of our TVs continue to report on some scandal somewhere involving some politician or other, we must remember that these are the few, and only a small fraction of the many Federal, State, and locally elected officials that toil tirelessly each day to make our districts a better place for us all.
Today is an opportunity to show your support and confidence in our system and support for a Party and/or support for the candidates of our choice. Today is a day when you can show your thanks to the many who have sacrificed to protect your right to choose .... a right that continues to be the envy of our global neighbors.
No matter how busy you are.... make sure that you join in the electoral process. Best wishes to you and to those you support.
